TATAMI – Film & subsequent panel discussion: Freedom, courage, and women's rights
TATAMI is considered the first joint feature film collaboration between an Iranian and an Israeli director—a unique constellation in terms of both content and production. The film centers on an Iranian judoka who, during an international tournament, comes under massive political pressure from the Iranian regime not to compete against an Israeli judoka. The film uses concentrated black-and-white images to tell a story of personal integrity, self-determination, and the real costs of freedom – especially for women who are visible in authoritarian contexts.
Following the screening, we will hold a moderated panel discussion (45–60 minutes) with guests from politics, civil society, and the media on the concept of freedom in a feminist context: What role does personal courage play when freedom is at stake? What role do sports associations, clubs, schools, etc. play in creating spaces for freedom? Can artistic collaboration, such as that between the Iranian director and the Israeli director, build bridges where politics draws boundaries?
Language: The German version will be shown.
Followed by a panel discussion with Maren-Jasper Winter and other experts.
Doors open at 7:30 p.m., film starts at 8:00 p.m., panel discussion starts at approx. 9:45 p.m. and ends around 11:00 p.m.
