Texts in Exile: Art, Power, Memory
Three women writers in exile present texts inspired by a literary engagement with Schloss Schönhausen (Schönhausen House) and its history during the Nazi era. Drawing on their own experiences of exile and political pressure, they offer powerful, personal perspectives on history and artistic freedom.
The authors Tania Arcimovich (Belarus), Karima Shabrang (Afghanistan) and Fariba Vafi (Iran) will read their texts in their respective original languages. Actress Melika Foroutan (Tatort, The Empress, City of Blood) will read the German translations. Cellist Basilius Alawad will accompany the reading with his music.
Following the reading, all guests are warmly invited to a reception.
The event is inspired by the Weiter Schreiben interventions, a series of multilingual literary and performative formats in which writers in exile engage with artistic positions and exhibitions at cultural institutions in Berlin.
In Persian, German, Belarusian. Text will be read in their original language and in German.
