Freedom Walk at the Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Straße

On-site
Workshop

Markus Wiehler, a real East Berliner born in 1968, leads a walk through the historically significant Berlin Wall Memorial on Bernauer Straße – right into the former death strip. During the walk, he vividly conveys the sense of oppression that many young people experienced in East Germany in the late 1980s.

But even there, one thing quickly becomes clear: living in freedom is not always easy – a point often overlooked and addressed during this walk.

The tour is enriched with original photos from the time, making the stories come alive. A special highlight is the original GDR Trabant, built in 1983, also on display.

The event takes place daily from November 8 to 12, 2025.
