Turning Points: The Long Road to German Democracy
The Deutschlandmuseum presents 2,000 years of German history in an immersive, interactive exhibition. Against this extraordinary backdrop, entertaining special guided tours are taking place during Berlin Freedom Week, illustrating how democracy and political participation have developed in Germany – from the Germanic tribes through the Middle Ages and the Enlightenment to the Cold War and the present day.
These insights highlight just how important democratic governance has been to German history, but also where dangers to democracy lurk. This examination is particularly relevant in light of current developments, for ‘Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it’ (George Santayana).
During the guided tour, visitors will also have the opportunity to explore some of the museum’s immersive exhibition spaces at their own.
