Special guided tour & conversation with eyewitnesses

Vor Ort
Führung

In the fall of 1989, the Peaceful Revolution in the GDR brought an end to the SED’s dictatorship, which had lasted more than forty years. On November 4, 1989, thousands of people took to the streets in Potsdam to demand their freedom. Among other things, they called for freedom of speech, freedom of travel, freedom of the press, free elections, and freedom for political prisoners.

As part of Berlin Freedom Week, the Lindenstraße Memorial Foundation will commemorate the significance and values of the Peaceful Revolution—above all, freedom and democracy—with a special guided tour of the memorial and the current special exhibition “Life After Prisont: Former Political Prisoners of the GDR Tell Their Stories,” as well as a conversation with eyewitness Bernd Richter on November 13, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.

Participation in the special tour and the discussion with eyewitnesses is free of charge.
