My Journey to Afghanistan 2023–2025: Between Roots, Change, and Lost Freedom
Drawing on my travels to Afghanistan between 2023 and 2025, I would like to share my personal impressions and offer insights into the lives of women and the transformation of the country's cities. Through my time on the ground and conversations with Afghan women, I gained firsthand knowledge of their living conditions, daily routines, and the societal changes taking place. From an urban planning perspective, I aim to illustrate how the use of public space is shifting, which locations remain accessible to women today, and how societal restrictions impact their freedom of movement and participation in urban life. In doing so, I wish to highlight not only the challenges and the loss of freedoms but also the strength, courage, and resilience of these women.
