Living Freedom. “Glückskind” – Reading and Conversation with Dr. Necla Kelek

Vor Ort
Lesung

We warmly invite you to a reading by Dr. Necla Kelek from her book “Glückskind” (“lucky child”), followed by a conversation about self-determination and the conditions of an open society.

In conversation with Linda Teuteberg, her personal life story leads to a broader question: What does it take for people not merely to possess freedom in formal terms, but to be able to live it in their everyday lives? The discussion will focus on individual scope for action, familial and social dependencies, education, language, economic security, and society’s responsibility to make freedom and participation possible for everyone. What conditions must be created so that people can live self-determined lives and participate in society, regardless of their background, gender, family circumstances, or social status?

Berlin will serve as a concrete testing ground: Where is freedom tangible—and where does it remain merely a promise?

Admission from 17:30.
