Focus on Taiwan: 5. Berlin Taiwan Conference

Hybrid
Konferenz

What role does Taiwan play in a changing world – and how can Germany and Taiwan deepen their cooperation? The 5th Berlin Taiwan Conference, “Focus on Taiwan”, invites participants to explore these questions with guests from politics, academia, business and civil society.

The conference will focus on Taiwan’s international role, the upcoming local elections in Taiwan at the end of November, and new perspectives on German-Taiwanese trade. Further panels will address school partnerships, the high-tech agendas of both countries, societal resilience, and the experiences of Taiwanese citizens living in Germany. The conference offers insights into Taiwan’s democratic society and provides opportunities for dialogue, networking and the exchange of ideas.

Speakers include Bonnie Glaser, Indo-Pacific expert at the German Marshall Fund of the United States; journalist Chris Horton, author of Ghost Nation; journalist David Demes, Vice President of the Taiwan Foreign Correspondents’ Club; and writer Stephan Thome, author of Schmales Gewässer, gefährliche Strömung.

The conference will be held in English. Participation is possible both in person and online. Advance registration is required.
