Everyday Resistance – Freedom Lived in Life Stories

Vor Ort
Führung

Freedom is not only reflected in historical events or political debates, but also in the quiet struggles of everyday life – in decisions to overcome boundaries, find one's own voice, or pursue one's own path despite exclusion.

Polyrama, Museum für Lebensgeschichten, is a place in Berlin where people tell their life stories. Visitors can simply come in, take a seat and listen. The museum presents life stories as audio recordings in a specially designed space, accompanied by personal objects brought by the storytellers – a letter, a pair of shoes, a cassette tape.

As part of Berlin Freedom Week, Polyrama will curate selected life stories that have a particular connection to the theme of freedom. The guided tours offer insights into personal experiences of freedom, self-determination, migration, identity, resistance and social participation. At the heart of the event are the voices and experiences of the people themselves: their decisions, their challenges and their very personal ideas of what freedom can mean in their own lives.

Visitors are invited to listen, ask questions and engage with these different perspectives.
